Job summary

Ategrity Specialty Insurance Company is seeking an AVP, Underwriting – Environmental Liability to lead complex environmental risk underwriting and broker partnerships across the U.S. You will manage an assigned book, set pricing strategies, and drive profitable growth within approved authority.

The role combines deep technical underwriting with commercial judgment, mentoring underwriters, and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen product capabilities and market presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience.
• 5+ years Environmental Liability or related underwriting experience.
• Proven track record underwriting profitable new and renewal business.
• Strong knowledge of Environmental Liability coverages, forms, endorsements, exclusions, and underwriting considerations.
• Experience underwriting excess and surplus/non-admitted business.
• Experience working with wholesale and retail brokers.
• Expertise in risk selection, exposure analysis, pricing, coverage structuring, and negotiation.
• Understanding of regulatory considerations for Environmental Liability underwriting.
• Ability to develop broker relationships, generate new business opportunities, and close deals.
• Experience managing and developing underwriters.
• Strong analytical, organizational, written, verbal, and relationship-management skills.
• Willingness to travel as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage Environmental Liability business within authority, guidelines, and risk appetite.
• Own book performance and monitor pricing, loss trends, concentrations, and exposures.
• Drive profitable growth by developing broker pipelines and executing transactions.
• Provide technical underwriting expertise on complex environmental risks and matters.
• Lead broker and market development to expand relationships and submission flow.
• Maintain a strong market presence through meetings, conferences, and events.
• Support portfolio management and contribute to reviews and actions.
• Advance underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, and processes as the business grows.
• Lead and develop underwriting talent and mentor underwriters.
• Collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Finance, Operations, Legal, Product, and other stakeholders.
