Job summary

Sompo International in Alpharetta, GA is seeking an AVP, Underwriter for Environmental Underwriting to lead underwriting of renewal and new business environmental pollution and casualty accounts. You will build and manage partnerships with agents, brokers and other distribution partners to develop a strong, profitable pipeline while underwriting within authority and guidelines.

The role requires extensive experience in casualty/environmental underwriting, strong analytical and communication

Qualifications

• 7+ years of casualty or environmental underwriting experience.
• Familiarity with required forms and coverages.
• Knowledge of relevant laws associated with US Environmental underwriting coverages.
• Experience underwriting non-admitted lines and working with wholesale/retail brokers.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to rate, quote, and sell admitted and non-admitted solutions.
• Proven track record in underwriting profitability and portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

• Meet financial objectives for growth and profitability of Environmental elements.
• Build and maintain relationships with agents, brokers and distribution partners.
• Underwrite renewals and new business within authority and guidelines.
• Support audits and drive remediation actions where needed.
• Collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Cat/Exposure Management, Finance and Operations.
• Monitor portfolio performance and risk analysis using internal models and market data.
• Represent Sompo through on-site visits, industry conferences and engagements.
