Job summary

Onterris in Richmond, VA seeks a Laboratory Technician I to join our environmental science team. You will assist multiple projects, prepare samples and reagents, perform digestions and analyses, maintain clean workspaces, and help with instrument operation (ICP-OES, ICP-MS, mercury analyzer, turbidity meter) under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (associate/bachelor preferred) and 1–2 years lab experience.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; associate/Bachelor in a scientific field preferred.
1-2 years of experience in a lab.
Understanding of physical and chemical principles underlying procedures.

Responsibilities

Prepare samples for analysis.
Prepare reagents for lab use and/or shipment.
Perform sample extractions and acid digestions.
Determine the volume of samples.
Clean laboratory glassware.
Learn instrumentation as needed (ICP-OES, ICP-MS, mercury analyzer, turbidity meter).
Maintain clean laboratory areas.
Keep organized records of sample preparation and analysis.
Assist with inventory of consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation.
Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program and Health & Safety Plan.
Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director.
