Job summary

Onterris in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Sample Receiving Technician to ensure samples are documented and stored correctly and to notify the Project Management Team of any discrepancies. The role involves receiving environmental samples, documenting shipments, data entry into LIMS, labeling, packing, and coordinating field sampling as needed.

A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required, and some lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Some lab experience is preferred but not required.
• Valid state issued driver’s license to drive company vehicles
• Must pass screen drug testing
• Proficient in computers and database software
• Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written)
• Able to work independently and make sound decisions
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Receives environmental samples into the laboratory according to SOPs.
• Receives and documents all shipments (lab and office supplies, equipment, etc.).
• Performs data entry of sample and test information into Laboratory Information System (LIMS).
• Label the sample containers, store them in appropriate locations and/or contact the proper department to inform them of short holding time and/or rush requests.
• Prepares and ships bottle kits (label bottles, add preservatives, etc.).
• Prepares and ships air sampling media.
• Assists in sample management/archiving and disposal.
• Assists in sample pickup or field sampling, if needed.
• Assists in the coordination of daily field sampling/pickup schedule, if needed.
• Participates in focus teams to improve efficiency.
• Be flexible in work schedule including Saturdays and overtime when needed
