Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation offers environmental internship/co-op opportunities to high-performing students for hands-on experiences in Refining, Midstream Crude Oil & Products Logistics, and Natural Gas units.

Interns work with professionals on safety, environment, and regulatory projects, receive training in HES&S areas, and contribute to company policy implementation and reporting. On-site, 40 hours/week, with travel and access to the company’s total rewards program.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
• Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor's degree seeking program for the duration of the internship experience.
• Strong academic performance.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and/or develop environmental policies and guidelines; develop methods for implementing and conformance.
• Provide guidance and technical assistance in organizing programs and procedures and monitor compliance.
• Design and review engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment/systems; determine specifications and recommendations.
• Identify and investigate environmental problems to determine causes and preventive actions; communicate to senior management.
• Keep abreast of environmental legislation and regulatory actions; assess impact and obtain permits as required.
• Develop environmental information, manuals, training materials and programs; inform employees of policies and conduct training.
