Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is offering an Environmental internship/co-op focused on protecting people, the environment, and communities. You will support refining, logistics, and natural gas operations, gaining hands-on experience in HES&S topics and regulatory compliance.

Qualified students pursuing Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science will work on-site 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
• Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree seeking program for the duration of the internship.
• Strong academic performance.
• Available to work on site 40 hours per week.
• Must have a valid driver’s license for work-related travel.
• Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Available for multiple work terms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and/or develop Company environmental policies and guidelines; develop methods to implement and assure conformance.
• Provide guidance and technical assistance in organizing programs; monitor compliance and report to appropriate personnel.
• Design/review environmental equipment specifications; determine engineering specs as required.
• Investigate environmental problems; propose preventive actions and communicate to senior management.
• Keep abreast of environmental legislation and regulatory actions; assist with impact assessment and permits.
• Develop environmental information, manuals, training material and programs; conduct training sessions.
