Job summary

Goochland County seeks an Environmental Inspector to ensure that commercial and residential developments comply with approved site plans and land disturbance plans, as well as Virginia Erosion & Stormwater Management Regulations. You will inspect without compromise, interpret complex plans, and enforce regulatory requirements to protect watersheds and communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, biology, civil engineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to research environmental matters and summarize issues for citizens.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, development plans, technical reports, and environmental regulations.
• Ability to express self clearly in writing and speech.

Responsibilities

• Inspect commercial and residential development for compliance with approved site plans and land disturbance plans.
• Perform erosion, sediment, stormwater, and pollution prevention inspections.
• Interpret complex plans and drawings and conduct pre-construction meetings.
• Issue inspection reports with corrective actions and timeframes; initiate enforcement if needed.
• Ensure safety on construction sites and communicate changes to plans for record integration.
