Job summary

Actalent in Brooklyn, NY seeks an Environmental Scientist to perform building inspections and environmental sampling across the five boroughs. You will assess asbestos, PCB-containing materials, and lead-based paint, ensuring regulatory compliance and preparing detailed documentation.

You will collaborate with agencies such as Port Authority, NYCHHC, DCAS, and MTA, file ACP forms, and support remediation with a multidisciplinary team. OSHA and field reporting are integral to the role.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in environmental science or a closely related field.
• Proficiency in inspecting for asbestos, PCB-containing materials, and lead-based paint.
• Ability to interpret NYC DEP Title 15, NYS ICR 56, and related regulations.
• Experience working with NYC agencies (Port Authority, NYCHHC, DCAS, MTA).
• Experience filing ACP forms via NYC DEP ARTS system.
• NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector Certification.
• EPA Lead Inspector Certification.
• OSHA 30 and OSHA 40 (HAZWOPER) certifications.
• Strong field and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed building inspections to identify asbestos, PCB materials, and lead-based paint.
• Collect, label, and document environmental samples with chain-of-custody.
• Prepare comprehensive reports with drawings, photos, and lab data.
• Interpret NYC DEP Title 15, NYS ICR 56 to ensure compliance.
• Coordinate inspections and reporting with NYC agencies.
• File ACP forms using NYC DEP ARTS system.
• Collaborate with a team of environmental scientists and technicians.
• Support remediation and field activities, including site visits and monitoring.
• Maintain accurate project records and regulatory documentation.
• Promote safe work practices per OSHA and HAZWOPER standards.
