Job summary

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection seeks four Associate Chemist Level 01 laboratory analysts for its Queens lab. You will perform routine testing of building materials for asbestos, calibrate equipment, log data, and maintain quality control per SOPs while adhering to safety guidelines in the Chemical Hygiene Plan.

Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree with chemistry credits, NYS CLT license, and ideally one year in an environmental testing lab; standby work and a NYS

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 16 semester chemistry credits and 8 credits in related sciences.
Must hold valid NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license for duration of employment.
At least two years of full-time lab experience for higher assignments; education can substitute 30 graduate credits for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

Perform routine testing of building materials for asbestos fibers.
Calibrate laboratory equipment and update calibration logs.
Document testing results and complete on-line bench sheets; participate in proficiency testing rounds.
Follow quality control procedures and the Chemical Hygiene Plan; ensure safety compliance.
