Job summary

Eversource Energy is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to provide environmental support for electric and gas operations within an assigned service area. The role emphasizes emergency response, OHM releases management, and regulatory compliance to safeguard environmental standards.

Key duties include coordinating spill response activities, preparing reports, and guiding contractors while developing the qualifications to serve as a Connecticut Permitted Environmental Professional (PEP).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field.
• Three (3) plus years of relevant environmental experience.
• Experience in environmental emergency response, spill response, remediation, environmental compliance, hazardous materials management.
• Experience responding to hazardous-material spills or releases involving mitigation, containment, remediation, or cleanup is strongly preferred.
• Path toward Connecticut DEEP PEP certification is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provides environmental oversight and technical support for the assigned service area.
• Responds to and manages OHM releases related to electric and gas operations, including assessment, containment, mitigation, cleanup, sampling, reporting, and regulatory closure.
• Directs and supports spill response activities, including oversight of environmental contractors and coordination with operations.
• Participates in a scheduled environmental emergency response on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Provides environmental support during major storm restoration and other emergency events.
• Prepares and certifies release documentation and closure reports as applicable to Connecticut PEP requirements.
