Job summary

Kimley-Horn's DC office is seeking Environmental Science graduates to join our team in 2027. This is not a remote position and offers an early-career entry path in a multidisciplinary environment.

You will assist with environmental documents, NEPA analyses, agency consultations, and coordination for infrastructure projects across federal agencies. You will gain exposure to regulatory frameworks and develop practical field and office skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree earned by Summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare environmental documents, technical environmental analysis, agency consultation packages, and document required project mitigated and environmental commitments.
• Help organize and prepare materials for public meetings, agency consultation, commission meetings and environmental hearings.
• Assist in reviewing historic environmental or planning policy documents and preparing existing environmental conditions documents in support of planning and environmental linkages and alternatives analysis.
• Support various project managers and collaborating with team members.
• Will likely gain expertise in: NEPA, 401/404 CWA permits, ESA, Section 106 NHPA.
• Work with infrastructure projects across sectors including FHWA, FTA, FRA, FAA; NPS, GSA, and NCPC.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to realize clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations, and Kimley-Horn’s practices and standards.
• Opportunity to gain knowledge in natural resource regulations, water quality regulatory programs, water resources, endangered species, cultural resources GIS and environmental documents and permits.
