Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in St. Johns County (FDOH-SJC) is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to conduct inspections and investigations across multiple public health programs, primarily Food Safety and Sanitation and Group Care.

You will perform initial, routine, and follow-up inspections, review complaints, and complete required documentation. Travel to field sites and backup coverage for related programs are parts of the role.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic mathematics and general office procedures.
• Skilled in time management, organization, and computer use.
• Ability to bend, stoop, lift 50 pounds and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections (initial, routine, and follow-up) for food safety and sanitation.
• Review and investigate complaints related to food establishments and group care facilities.
• Complete follow-ups and maintain organized records and reports.
• Provide back-up coverage for Biomedical Waste, Tattoo, Tanning, Body Piercing and Migrant Labor Housing programs.
• Travel to field sites and perform emergency or other duties as assigned.
