Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in EHS in a manufacturing setting.
  • Professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM) are a plus but not required.
  • Ability to maintain 49-CFR, INT'L & IMDG certification.

Job description

AquaPhoenix Scientific, located in Hanover, PA has an immediate opening for an experienced, results-driven Environmental Health & Safety Manager (EHS) to lead and manage all aspects of Environmental, Health & Safety programs and culture. This is a proactive and hands-on position that plays a critical role in the company’s commitment to sustainability, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance. The EHS manager role is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits and requires an in-office presence in our Hanover, PA headquarters.

The successful candidate will be responsible for successfully integrating EHS initiatives into the fabric of the Company. Primary responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure regulatory compliance, minimize our environmental footprint, and promote a safe and proactive workplace culture.

Other key areas of responsibility include but not limited to:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee EHS programs across a network of facilities in accordance with OSHA, EPA and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Investigate and track all work-related injuries and near misses. Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct monthly safety team meetings.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, environmental permits, and safety training records.
  • Deliver training programs to employees on EHS topics such as hazardous communication, forklift certifications, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies during inspections or reporting processes as required.
  • Track and report on EHS performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Complete and maintain SDS record for internal and external customers.
  • Investigate all work-related injuries and near misses. Perform necessary analysis and make recommendations to minimize/eliminate future risks and notify management of pertinent details.
  • Availability to travel occasionally to multiple facilities /states to ensure consistent application of EHS standards and practices.

AquaPhoenix Scientific considers applicants with diverse backgrounds, education, and work experience; however, applicants for the Environmental, Health & Safety Managerposition will frequently have a combined education and/or work experience that is a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 5+ years’ of work experience in EHS in a manufacturing setting. A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field is helpful but not required.

Additional Skills and Qualifications desired include but are not limited to:

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organization skills.
  • Ability to receive and maintain 49-CFR, INT’L & IMDG certification, forklift certification, and EPA 40CFR 262.17 regulation.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • High degree of attention to detail with strong analytical skills to react to data or circumstances to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) are a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge or familiarity of DOT / CDL requirements.
  • Proficient in EHS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
