Job summary

HireVenture, partnering with a well‑established manufacturing company, is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager for its Vermont operations. This onsite leadership role focuses on strengthening safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and guiding environmental and health programs across manufacturing facilities.

You will lead EHS initiatives, deliver training, manage audits, and partner with Operations, Engineering and HR to drive safety and environmental improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 3–5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT and state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to lead EHS programs and influence safety performance.
  • Experience managing audits, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work onsite and travel between facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide EHS leadership, guidance, resources, and support to the facility and surrounding operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Lead safety initiatives to build a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct new-hire safety orientations and required annual/regulatory training.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state/federal regulations.
  • Partner with employees, supervisors, and leadership to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Lead workplace incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain EHS documentation, permits, records, and regulatory reports.
  • Track and communicate EHS performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Coordinate audits and regulatory inspections; support workers' compensation programs.
  • Monitor changes to EHS regulations and support sustainability initiatives.

About the Opportunity

The EHS Manager will provide leadership and hands‑on support for environmental, health, and safety initiatives across the organization’s Vermont facilities, with a primary focus on manufacturing and production operations.

This position will play a key role in strengthening the site’s safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting employees and leaders, and driving continuous improvement across safety and environmental programs.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide EHS leadership, guidance, resources, and support to the manufacturing facility and surrounding operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs that promote safe work practices and employee engagement.
  • Lead safety initiatives designed to build a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Conduct new‑hire safety orientations and deliver required annual and regulatory training.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state and federal regulations.
  • Partner with employees, supervisors, and leadership to identify, evaluate, and mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Serve as a key resource for Safety Committees, Emergency Response Teams, and site leadership.
  • Lead workplace incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct facility for inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Evaluate equipment, processes, and work environments for safety and ergonomic improvements.
  • Recommend and implement engineering controls, administrative controls, and appropriate PPE.
  • Maintain required EHS documentation, permits, records, and regulatory reports.
  • Track, analyze, and communicate EHS performance metrics, trends, and KPIs.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external compliance audits and regulatory inspections.Assist with workers' compensation for case management, return‑to‑work programs, and injury prevention initiatives.
  • Monitor changes to EHS regulations and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Support sustainability, waste management, and environmental compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Human Resources, and other departments.
  • Travel between company facilities as needed.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3–5+ years of related EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead EHS programs and influence safety performance at all levels of an organization.
  • Experience managing workplace safety programs, regulatory compliance, audits, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, management, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS reporting systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work onsite and travel between facilities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • EHS experience within food manufacturing, dairy processing, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHMM, or equivalent.
  • Experience leading regulatory audits and environmental compliance programs.
  • Experience with safety management systems.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with behavior‑based safety programs.
  • Experience supporting sustainability and environmental initiatives.
