Job summary

Arcosa Inc. is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety professional to schedule and implement training, conduct internal audits, and manage regulatory reporting for multiple Florida facilities.

The role includes responding to incidents, collecting environmental samples, and maintaining permit records. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in a related field or 1–3 years of EHS experience, with strong communication, training, and MS Office skills, and be prepared for 75% travel to Lakeland,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Science, or related field, or 1–3 years of EHS experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Regulatory experience with Florida Department of Environmental Protection (Required) and OSHA standards (Preferred).
  • Strong training methods knowledge and delivery experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office and data management.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and implement the EHS training program for employees and communities.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with environmental, industrial hygiene and safety laws.
  • Respond to, investigate, and document EHS incidents.
  • Collect, analyze, and document environmental samples for regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain records for permits and regulatory reporting (stormwater, emissions).
  • Build relationships to support EHS initiatives across facilities.
  • Local commuting 75% to Lakeland, Kissimmee, Orlando, and Jacksonville sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Schedule and implement the organization's environmental, health and safety training program to safeguard employees and surrounding communities
  • Includes new hire orientation, job-specific training, and on-going training to ensure compliance with all applicable EHS policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, industrial hygiene and safety/health laws, standards, and regulations
  • Respond to, investigate, and document all EHS incidents
  • Collect, analyze, and document the results of environmental samples from all facilities to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Conduct and report recordkeeping requirements for facility’s permits and other environmental regulatory reporting (such as, stormwater sampling, visible emissions observations)
  • Maintain and organize detailed records for permit requirements
  • Build strong working relationships to support the adherence to environmental, health and safety initiatives
  • Local commuting 75% of time to various North-Central Florida locations; responsibilities shared between the Lakeland, Kissimmee, Orlando, and Jacksonville facilities
  • Perform other duties assigned

What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Science, or a related field; or
    • 1 - 3 years of experience in an EHS-related role (aggregate industry preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written (Required)
  • Regulatory experience with OSHA 1910 and 1926 (Preferred)
  • Regulatory experience with Florida Department of Environmental Protection (Required)
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding air quality, wastewater, stormwater, and waste management (Preferred)
  • Working experience with industrial stormwater sampling methods and conducting visible emissions observations (EPA Method 9 and 22) (Preferred)
  • Strong knowledge and experience of training methods, procedures, and techniques (Required)
  • Strong computer skills including data management and presentation and experience in MS Office Suite (Required)
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks concurrently (Required)
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to climb various heights on a regular basis
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, and crawl in various situations/positions
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or pull 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Exposure to loud noise, machinery, chemicals, fumes, and odors
  • Required to wear safety equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, goggles, steel toed boots, ear plugs, respirator, gloves, and various other similar items as required
