Job summary

Dover Food Retail is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist at our Keosauqua, IA facility to partner with operations and drive safety as a core value. You will report to the EHS Manager and support daily safety and compliance initiatives.

Your role emphasizes incident investigations, training delivery in line with OSHA requirements, and continuous improvement of safety and environmental programs across the site. Strong communication and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or in lieu of education minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong Communication and Presentation skills.
• The ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to the plant EHS Manager and plant staff: investigate, report, and recommend corrective actions on safety and environmental issues.
• Communicate safety priorities, regulatory updates, and corrective actions clearly across the facility.
• Coordinate with supervisors and shop floor personnel to engage in daily safety discussions.
• Conduct daily Gemba walks.
• Assist with incident investigations.
• Learn, read, understand, and communicate EHS regulatory requirements.
• Develop and deliver clear, effective EHS training to employees in alignment with OSHA requirements.
• Audit and maintain systems to ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental programs of facility.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety and environmental compliance.
• Support OSHA compliance inspections.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

The EHS Specialist will partner with the site operations team to help drive safety as a core value. The EHS Specialist will work under the direction of the EHS Manager.

What You’ll Be Responsible For In This Role

What are the basic qualifications?

• Associate degree or in lieu of education minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

What are the preferred qualifications?

• Previous EHS experience in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment
• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Training
• Knowledge of safety (OSHA, NFPA & ANSI) and environmental (EPA) regulations
• Ability to contribute and participate in a team environment
• Ability to accomplish assigned tasks, provide feedback, construct plans, and demonstrate confidence in team leader and member roles.

To Be a Great Fit For The Role

• Experience in Enablon or other EHS platforms
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 regulatory requirements
• Experience in coaching, training, networking and facilitation
