Job summary

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) is seeking a full-time Environmental Health Program Coordinator for the Food Program. The role plans, manages, coordinates, evaluates public health programs and services and assists in supervising program staff.

Responsibilities include coordinating and evaluating district programs, developing data collection methods, ensuring grant compliance, and providing staff training. The position starts at $71,428 and scales to $96,428 for a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health or closely related field with minimum 30 semester hours of basic sciences.
  • Three years of responsible professional work experience in a closely related area to the assigned program.
  • Environmental Health Practitioner License or equivalent license/registration; master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and evaluates public health programs, activities and services within a division or district.
  • Develops methods to collect, analyze and evaluate program data and procedures.
  • Collaborates with funding agents to resolve procedural issues.
  • Ensures compliance with grant requirements and funding sources.
  • Prepares verbal and written alternatives, summaries and recommendations.
  • Evaluates program operations for legal compliance and recommends revisions.
  • Develops, coordinates and presents in-servicetraining and staff development programs.
  • May provide direct services within a program area as licensed professional.
  • Supervises staff performance and conducts evaluations.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in environmental health or closely related field
Environmental Health Practitioner License or equivalent
Master’s degree may substitute for one year of required work experience

Environmental Health Program Coordinator (Food)

The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) is seeking to fill a full-time (40-hour week) Environmental Health Program Coordinator for the Food Program. Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Health Director, the Program Coordinator plans, manages, coordinates, evaluates public health programs and services and assists in the supervision of program staff.


Responsibilities include:


  • Coordinates and evaluates public health programs, activities and services within a division and/or District-wide that serve identified jurisdictions, residents and/or the County ofChampaign.

  • Develops methods to collect, analyze and evaluate program data andprocedures.

  • Collaborates with funding agent to provide problem resolution on proceduralissues.

  • Assures compliance with grants or any other funding sourcesrequirements.

  • Researchesandanalyzesinformationforspecialprojectsandinitiatives;preparesand presents verbal and written alternatives, summaries andrecommendations.

  • Assists in the evaluation and review of program operations for compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes and makes recommendations for revision whennecessary.

  • Develops,coordinatesandpresentsin-servicetrainingandstaffdevelopmentprograms.

  • May provide direct services within a program area and according to a professional license.\\

  • Supervises and reviews staff performance, conducts performance evaluations and receives and resolves specific personnel concerns or issues of the staff.

  • Public Health Emergency Response Responsibilities: All District employees must be able to respond to public health emergencies when needed and appropriate. During an emergency response, employee may be assigned to a role in either operations, logistics, or administration by the Incident Commander and/or Section Chief in addition to regular duties.

  • Performs other duties and special projects asrequired.


Requirements:


  • Graduation from an accredited or recognized college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in environmental health or closely related field with a minimum of 30 semester hours of basic sciences (with at least three (3) semesters in each of the following areas: physical sciences, chemical sciences biological sciences, and math).

  • Three (3) years of responsible professional work experience in a closely related area to the assigned program/s.

  • Possess an Environmental Health Practioners License or equivalent license or registration recognized in the field of environmental health.

  • AND/OR A master’s degree from a recognized college or university in a closely related field to the assigned program/s may be substituted for one (1) year of the required work experience.


CUPHD provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes:


  • CUPHD offers qualified bilingual employees an additional $3.00 per hour, upon approval.

    • Eligible employees may complete language proficiency testing upon hire and can begin receiving the stipend as soon as they are approved.

The expected annual starting salary is $71,428. Full annual salary for a Class 9 Environmental Health Program Coordinator is $71,428 - $96,428 for a 40-hour week.
