Job summary

Florida Department of Health in St. Johns County is seeking an OPS Environmental Specialist I to conduct inspections and investigations within Environmental Public Health programs, including Biomedical Waste, Tattooing, and Tanning Facilities.

The role covers in-office and field work daily, with documentation of inspections and coordination with supervisors on plan reviews. Responsibilities include data entry, record-keeping, and performing other duties as assigned, contributing to public health

Responsibilities

• Inspections for BMW establishments (initial, routine, follow-up) and related investigations.
• Reviewing and/or investigating complaints for BMW establishments.
• Complete follow-up for complaints or investigations; assist with plan reviews as needed.
• Inspections for tattoo establishments (initial, routine, follow-up) and related investigations.
• Reviewing and/or investigating complaints for tattoo establishments.
• Complete follow-up for complaints or investigations; assist with plan reviews as needed.
• Inspections for tanning facilities (initial, routine, follow-up) and related investigations.
• Reviewing and/or investigating complaints for tanning facilities.
• Complete follow-up for complaints or investigations; assist with plan reviews as needed.
• Data entry and maintenance of inspection records in Environmental Health Database; other duties as assigned.
