Job summary

Florida Department of Health is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to perform sanitary and safety inspections across facilities generating biomedical waste. The role ensures compliance with 64E16 FAC and related statutes, and investigates complaints regarding improper disposal and safety concerns.

Incumbent will conduct site inspections, complete documentation, and participate in enforcement actions including drafting letters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited college or university, valid driver’s license, access to a private automobile to perform work related duties.

Responsibilities

• Conduct sanitary and safety inspections of facilities generating biomedical waste to ensure compliance with 64E16 FAC.
• Inspect hospitals, physician offices, laboratories, nursing homes and other biomedical waste facilities for regulatory compliance.
• Complete inspection forms with correct interpretation of 64E16, FAC and related regulations.
