Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s safety, health, and environmental policies and standards. The EHS Manager will oversee all Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) activities for our large, special-order engineered manufacturing facility located in Marshalltown, Iowa. In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  1. Manage ES&H Department and Medical Department.
  2. Maintain regulatory compliance for OSHA-required regulations, IDNR, City of Marshalltown, and Emerson Corporate Standards.
  3. Review and implement revisions of ESH processes, guidelines, programs, and policies; communicate/train plant personnel.
  4. Supervise Velocity Safety Software system and ENVIRON Environmental Compliance database.
  5. Complete risk assessments for machine guarding.
  6. Recommend safety initiatives, solutions, and compliance programs to management.
  7. Develop, coordinate, and facilitate ES&H communications and training programs for OSHA requirements, BBS, and general safety awareness.
  8. Maintain monthly safety and health inspections/internal audits and address open action items.
  9. Conduct Industrial Hygiene exposure assessments, sampling, and communicate results.
  10. Identify, evaluate, and mitigate workplace hazards; develop and implement processes, JHAs/SOPs, work procedures, and training.
  11. Participate actively in safety/environmental and security teams.
  12. Assist Environmental Engineer with air, waste, wastewater, stormwater, EPCRA, and SARA compliance, monitoring, and reporting.
  13. Implement Emerson Operation Excellence Safety and Environmental Compliance Audits, and self-assessments; work to improve ratings.
  14. Communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including company personnel, unions, and government officials.
Who You Are:

You handle tough issues proactively, consider all relevant factors, and use appropriate decision-making principles. You understand that different situations may require different approaches and you partner with others to achieve goals.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing process experience, with a focus on safety and health risk identification.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and manufacturing safety practices.
  • Experience with Industrial Hygiene testing and standards.
  • Project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
  • ASP or CSP certification.
  • Strong analytical skills, including root cause analysis techniques.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and ambitious.
