As an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator (EHS), you will be responsible for implementing, auditing, and ensuring compliance with all Ryerson EHS, State, and Federal policies. Through daily walk-throughs, active engagement, and participation in the Safety Council, you will ensure employee compliance and that safety checks are being performed.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Review, implement, organize, present, and audit all Ryerson EHS policies as well as state and federal environmental compliance.
  • Oversee employee policy compliance, including reviewing site-specific policies, entering near misses, conducting daily safety checks and walkthroughs, and following up on action items.
  • Schedule repairs of safety equipment to uphold safety standards and ensure proper maintenance.
  • Conduct site evaluations to monitor and sample air and storm water, and review paint emissions reports.
  • Maintain RCRA compliance for proper disposal of chemicals.
  • Schedule and maintain various inspections such as fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting, etc.
  • Ensure all monthly site-specific training is prepared and completed.
  • Conduct reviews of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures, verifying authorized users and reviewing written programs.
  • Conduct forklift training for new hires and maintain a recertification log.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, with responsibilities subject to change.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • BA/BS degree in environment, health, and safety, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA/ISO policies.
  • Certified in CPR/First Aid.
  • Experience or certification in conducting job safety analysis and accident analysis.
  • Experience with OSHA record keeping.
  • OSHA 511 Certification is considered an asset.
  • Certified Forklift & Crane Trainer is considered an asset.
