Clean Harbors in Dolton, IL is seeking an Environmental General Laborer to join our safety-conscious team. This role involves fieldwork related to hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling hazardous materials.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize health and safety by following policies and acting safely at all times
- Perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects
- Operate light and heavy equipment, handle hand tools and powered industrial tools, including vibration-producing tools
- Use and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protections
- Work in various indoor and outdoor temperatures and weather conditions
- Handle environments with potential exposure to hazardous, toxic, or corrosive chemicals and physical agents
- Work in elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and areas requiring climbing ladders or scaffolding
- Assist with field sampling and calibration of meters
- Climb ladders, scaffolding, and into/out of trucks and tanks
- Work extended hours (>8 hrs)
- Attend safety and compliance meetings
- Inspect drums for integrity and compliance
- Load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste safely
- Conduct waste sampling and profiling as needed
- Follow all local, state, and federal regulations
- Operate vehicles safely according to DOT and other requirements
- Follow all company environmental, health, and safety guidelines
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis
- Participate in site remediation, equipment decontamination, and hazardous material handling
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to perform physical tasks as outlined
- Willingness to be on-call for emergencies, including working weekends and holidays
- Complete background checks, drug tests, and physical assessments as required
- Meet OSHA facial hair standards for respirator use
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- Previous relevant labor experience
