Job summary

Clean Harbors in South Plainfield, NJ is seeking an Environmental Field Laborer to join our safety conscious team. This role will be active in the field responsible for the performance of tasks associated with hazardous waste clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.

Key responsibilities include following safety policies, performing strenuous physical work, operating equipment, and complying with DOT and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physical functions per responsibilities.
• Respond to emergency calls and be on-call as required.
• Complete background check, drug test, and medical exam as applicable.
• Comply with respiratory protection standards (OSHA).
• Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Engage in heavy physical labor, lifting and pulling.
• Operate light and heavy equipment and various hand tools.
• Wear PPE and respirators as required for safety.
• Work in varied temperatures and environments, indoors and outdoors.
• Handle hazardous and non-hazardous waste safely during loading/unloading.
• Inspect drums for integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Attend safety meetings and on-call shifts as scheduled.
• Assist in field sampling and calibration of meters.
• Perform site-remediation and decontamination tasks as needed.
