Job summary

Clean Harbors in South Plainfield, NJ is seeking an Environmental Field Laborer to join our safety-conscious team. This role will perform hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials in field operations.

Driver's license required; schedule is Monday–Friday with early 6 am starts, 8–10+ hour days, and overtime. Up to 50% overnight travel; paid two-week Academy training out of state.

Qualifications

• Reliable transportation required.
• Must be available for emergency response and on-call shifts.
• Able to perform strenuous physical labor.
• Must successfully complete background check, drug test, and medical assessment.
• Must comply with respirator safety standards under OSHA rules.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety policies to maintain Health and Safety as a top priority.
• Engage in heavy physical labor including lifting and pulling.
• Operate light and heavy equipment and various tools.
• Wear and use PPE including respirators and protective gear.
• Work outdoors in all weather and temperatures; possible elevated noise and confined spaces.
• Assist in field sampling and calibration of meters.
• Climb ladders/scaffolding, enter trucks and tanks as needed.
• Be on call for emergency response on rotating basis.
• Attend compliance and safety meetings.
• Conduct waste handling and ensure proper regulatory compliance.
