Job summary

Clean Harbors in Cleveland, OH is seeking an Environmental General Laborer for field-based hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, and equipment decontamination. The role includes two-week out-of-state Academy training with expenses covered, and potential travel up to two weeks per assignment.

The position requires a valid driver’s license, ability to perform strenuous labor, and on-call emergency responsiveness. EOE; competitive benefits after 30 days, including 401K with company match.

Qualifications

• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to perform physical functions per key responsibilities.
• On-call; may work weekends/holidays and up to 12-24 hours in emergency situations.
• Perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Background check, drug test, and physical may be required by position.
• Respiratory protection standards require facial hair restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by following policies and acting safely.
• Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting heavy objects.
• Operate light and heavy equipment and various hand tools.
• Wear and use PPE including respirators and protective equipment.
• Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and temperatures.
• Handle hazardous and non-hazardous waste safely during loading/unloading.
• Conduct waste sampling and calibration of meters as needed.
• Climb ladders and scaffolding; access trucks, tanks, and containers.
• Be on call for emergency response on rotating basis; support site remediation and decontamination tasks.
