Job summary

Terracon seeks a Building Environmental Scientist in San Antonio, TX to perform asbestos, lead, and mold inspections, abatement air monitoring, and project management. You will evaluate data and prepare reports while contributing to environmental consulting projects.

The role leads to licensure as a Texas Asbestos Inspector, Air Monitoring Technician, Mold Assessment Technician, and Lead Inspector through the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• 0-2 years of related experience is preferred.
• TDSHS license and certifications in the field are a plus.
• TDSHS Lead Inspector certification is a plus.
• TDLR licensure as a Mold Assessment Technician is a plus.
• Work hours may include flexible hours and occasional weekends.
• Occasional overnight travel and out-of-town mobilization up to 2 weeks may be required.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning; report safety issues to management.
• Sample suspect asbestos-containing building materials per AHERA guidelines.
• Sample suspect mold per MARAR guidelines.
• Sample suspect lead in paint per TELLR guidelines.
• Perform site visits, field observations and data collection, may work in office, lab or field.
• Perform oversight and air monitoring.
• Evaluate laboratory and field data and summarize in draft report format using Word and Excel.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.
• Assist more senior scientists on large, complex projects.
