Job summary

Stantec’s gulf coast environmental services group is seeking an Environmental Scientist to participate in field surveys, reporting, and permitting support for clients in renewable energy, transmission, pipelines, and other sectors. The role involves wetland/stream assessments, wildlife surveys, and extensive fieldwork across the gulf coast, with potential travel up to 75%.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in an environmental discipline and experience with biological surveys.

Qualifications

• An interest in ecosystems, natural resource conservation, and the outdoors is essential.
• The ability to solve problems using critical thinking and to complete tasks with consideration to their own and the team's safety is important.
• A positive attitude in all working conditions is key.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including exceptional MS Office skills.
• Strong note-taking skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Delineate wetlands and streams and assess conditions.
• Conduct wildlife surveys and habitat assessments.
• Perform aquatic assessments in lakes and streams.
• Prepare environmental permit applications.
• Collect GPS data and support mapping efforts.
• Use ArcGIS online for mapping and data collection.
• Manage and analyze data; assist with reports for client/regulatory review.
