Job description

Clean Harbors in Caseyville, IL is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist CDL Driver (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste in accordance with Federal/State/Local regulations and our company policies and procedures. This position works both indoors and outdoors at plants, labs, customer sites, and involves assisting with lab packs within customer facilities, household hazardous waste (HHW) collections, and lab moves. This is a customer-facing position, working at customer sites daily.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure health and safety compliance and act safely at all times
  2. Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and disposal notifications
  3. Inspect storage and staging areas for compliance and safety
  4. Package waste chemicals properly for disposal
  5. Perform jobs at customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies
  6. Ensure projects meet all regulatory and safety standards before shipment
  7. Sample and profile waste streams as needed
  8. Verify drum conditions and compliance with shipping regulations
  9. Operate vehicles safely according to DOT and other regulations
  10. Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsements within 6 months
  • Physical capability to perform job functions
  • Successful background check, drug test, and physical
  • Compliance with OSHA facial hair standards for respirator use
Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree in Chemistry or Natural Science
  • Experience in environmental services such as remediation or spill response
