Job summary

The University of Kansas CEAE Department seeks an Undergraduate Teaching Lab Assistant for CE 571 (Environmental Engineering Laboratory). The role supports faculty through pre-class preparation, in-class student guidance, and grading of lab reports, with both in-class and out-of-class responsibilities.

You will spend about 4 hours weekly in class, assist with materials, set up experiments, and help students practice lab techniques, while also grading and documenting outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must have taken CE 571 or an equivalent class and earned at least a B in the course.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated mastery of course content.
• The job requires physical presence in the course (approx. 4 hours/week during class hours) and may demand approx. 4 hours/week outside of class.

Responsibilities

• Assist during class to guide students through laboratory work.
• Prepare materials, equipment setup and testing for weekly experiments.
• Grade laboratory reports.
