Center for Public Partnerships & Research in Topeka, KS is seeking an Undergraduate Teaching Lab Assistant for the CE 571 Environmental Engineering Laboratory. You will help prepare experiments, assist students during lab sessions, and grade lab reports under faculty supervision.
The role requires approximately 4 hours per week in class and potentially another 4 hours outside of class. This is an hourly, part-time student position with an anticipated start date of September 3, 2026.
Position Overview
The CEAE Department seeks an Undergraduate Teaching Lab Assistant to support faculty instruction for the CE 571 (Environmental Engineering Laboratory) course through pre-class preparation of experiments, assistance with student laboratory work during class, and grading of student laboratory reports. This position includes both in-class and out-of-class work.
50% Enhance student learning by interacting with students during the class period by guiding students through laboratory work.
25% Help faculty prepare for weekly experiments through preparation of materials, equipment set up and testing, and related activities.
25% Grading of lab reports.
Evaluation of the following requirements will be made through descriptions of work experience, educational experiences, and teaching/tutoring interest in cover letter; a record of relevant accomplishments and productivity addressed in a one-page resume; and an overall GPA and letter grade obtained in the specified class. Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
