Job summary

CDM Smith in Austin, TX is seeking an Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience on real-world water and infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with experienced engineers on municipal, federal, and industrial projects while exploring different areas of project delivery.

The internship program runs Summer 2027 cohorts with May 17, May 31, and June 14 start dates.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled and taking courses toward a Bachelors in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field is required.

Responsibilities

Research and evaluate engineering solutions to support project analyses, reporting, and design.
Assist with the development of engineering calculations, technical reports, project documentation, and presentations.
Gain hands‑on experience using tools such as ArcGIS, Fathom, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other engineering software.
Work alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to support project deliverables and solve engineering challenges.
Participate in team meetings and gain exposure to client and project interactions.
Assist with fieldwork and construction management activities, providing a firsthand look at projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
