Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience on real-world water and infrastructure projects in a multi-disciplinary environment in the United States. You will work with industry-leading engineers on a diverse portfolio and collaborate with interns and project teams while exploring different areas of engineering and project delivery.

As an intern, you will participate in meaningful tasks and learn professional practices.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and taking courses toward a Bachelor’s in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field is required.

Responsibilities

• Research and evaluate engineering solutions to support project analyses, reporting, and design.
• Assist with the development of engineering calculations, technical reports, project documentation, and presentations.
• Gain hands‑on experience using tools such as ArcGIS, HEC‑RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other engineering software.
• Work alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to support project deliverables and solve engineering challenges.
• Participate in team meetings and gain exposure to client and project interactions.
• Assist with fieldwork and construction management activities, providing a firsthand look at projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Build your professional network while developing technical skills that complement your academic experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field
