Job summary

S&ME is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our Charlotte, NC team, leading a diverse portfolio and mentoring engineers and geologists. You will drive growth, oversee field and design work, and collaborate with clients across various industries.

You'll support business development, manage projects end-to-end, and contribute to shaping our environmental services expansion in the region. This role emphasizes leadership, client engagement, and technical excellence.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
8+ years of environmental engineering experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Strong project management, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead Projects: Manage all phases of projects, including scoping, budgeting, execution, reporting, and client communication.
Technical Oversight: Provide expertise in soil and groundwater remediation, vapor intrusion, and related areas.
Field & Design Work: Oversee field investigations and prepare design recommendations for complex site conditions.
Mentorship: Guide engineers and staff, supporting growth and training.
Business Development: Leverage local market knowledge to identify and pursue opportunities.
