Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Environmental Engineer for the FAA MMAC in Oklahoma City, in-office. You will support environmental compliance, asbestos management, and EOSHMS, coordinating with FAA personnel and laboratories.

The role emphasizes field work, regulatory interpretation, and technical reporting. Must be local or willing to relocate, with a background in environmental safety and health and 40-hour HAZWOPER training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or science field.
• 4+ years of environmental or EOSH-related experience.
• HAZWOPER 40-hour training.
• Current Oklahoma Asbestos Inspector License.
• Experience evaluating environmental conditions and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to prepare technical reports and communicate findings.

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental compliance activities including asbestos management, stormwater, pretreatment discharges, air emissions, and spill response.
• Perform Asbestos Inspector duties: surveys, inspections, bulk samples, and technical surveys/reports.
• Coordinate asbestos projects with occupants, contractors, labs, and third-party air-monitoring personnel; submit reports to FAA Program Manager.
• Coordinate pretreatment sampling; maintain logs and review lab analyses for QA/QC.
• Track metal-finishing discharges and maintain compliance data.
• Evaluate health hazards and environmental impacts; develop controls or mitigations.
• Research regulatory and engineering requirements and translate findings into procedures and training.
• Participate in multidisciplinary teams to analyze hazard-producing mechanisms and conditions.
• Develop and maintain procedures, standards, and documentation for environmental and EOSH programs.
• Provide professional opinions and training on environmental stewardship and safety matters.
• Perform audits of MMAC EOSH Management System and document findings.
