Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America seeks a full-time Environmental Engineer to support mill safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental programs. The role covers air, wastewater, land application, and chemical management with collaboration across operations, maintenance and engineering teams.

Candidates should have a relevant engineering degree, 0–4 years of experience, U.S. work authorization, and a valid driver's license. AutoCAD and Microsoft Office proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, environmental, civil engineering or related fields.
• 0-4 years of experience in process engineering or environmental engineering.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Experience using AutoCad, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Project.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and support mill safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory expectations across assigned environmental programs.
• Maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations, permits, reporting requirements, and corporate standards.
• Manage environmental programs, procedures, records, audits, inspections, and agency reporting for areas such as air, wastewater treatment, land application, and chemical management.
• Evaluate mill systems, process changes, capital projects, and new equipment installations to ensure environmental requirements are addressed and compliance risks are mitigated.
• Identify environmental issues, develop corrective actions, troubleshoot problems, and follow through with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
