Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) seeks a full-time Environmental Engineer to join our team. Responsibilities include ensuring regulatory compliance, managing environmental programs, and supporting mill safety and operations across assigned sites.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in chemical, environmental, civil engineering or related field, 0–4 years of relevant experience, and U.S. work authorization. PCA offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, environmental, civil engineering or related fields.
• 0-4 years of experience in process engineering or environmental engineering.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Experience using Auto Cad, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Project.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and support mill safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory expectations across assigned environmental programs.
• Maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations, permits, reporting requirements, and corporate standards.
• Manage environmental programs, procedures, records, audits, inspections, and agency reporting for areas such as air, wastewater treatment, land application, and chemical management.
• Evaluate mill systems, process changes, capital projects, and new equipment installations to ensure environmental requirements are addressed and compliance risks are mitigated.
• Identify environmental issues, develop corrective actions, troubleshoot problems, and follow through with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Support environmental training, compliance procedures, project planning, and continuous improvement efforts that reduce risk, improve performance, and support mill objectives.
• Additional duties as assigned by management.
