Job summary

New York State Department of Health seeks a Professional Engineer 2 (Environmental) to lead the Implementation Section on drinking water protection statewide. You will supervise a team, develop policy visions, and ensure regulatory standards are met across utilities and local health departments.

The role requires senior technical expertise in drinking water regulations, strong leadership, and the ability to work with regulators and elected officials.

Qualifications

• Experience conducting sanitary surveys at municipal drinking water plants.
• Advanced knowledge of SDWIS and drinking water regulations.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to leadership, officials and the public.

Responsibilities

• Serve as one of two section chiefs in the Implementation Section.
• Develop and update guidance for local health departments and utilities.
• Lead training needs assessment and sanitary survey performance reviews.
