Job summary

Edged Data Centers seeks an experienced Environmental Engineer to lead air permitting and regulatory compliance for edge and large-scale data center projects in the United States. This role ensures adherence to state and federal requirements while keeping development timelines on track.

You will manage external consultants, oversee emission sources, and coordinate across project teams to maintain environmental excellence throughout the lifecycle of multiple sites.

Qualifications

  • BS in Environmental Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of environmental compliance experience
  • Air permitting expertise (Title V, minor source, PSD/NSR familiarity a plus)
  • Working knowledge of state and federal waste, water, and air regulations
  • Field experience supporting operations and compliance
  • Experience managing outside consultants or contractors on permitting deliverables

Responsibilities

  • Manage air permitting processes for data center facilities, including permits for backup generators and related emission sources
  • Prepare and submit permit applications to state and federal agencies; track through approval
  • Lead environmental permitting for new site development from assessment to permit issuance
  • Oversee third‑party consultants and contractors ensuring quality and on‑time submittals
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with air, water, and waste regulations across project lifecycle
  • Support field operations during construction to maintain environmental compliance
  • Coordinate environmental compliance audits and corrective actions
  • Coordinate wildlife, water, and waste management requirements for site development
  • Interface with regulators, project managers, and contractors
