Job summary

National Park Service seeks a Training Specialist to plan, develop, and implement the Unit's education program across educational levels. This temporary promotion may extend up to five years and could become permanent without further competition.

The role focuses on coordinating curricula, materials, and logistics for on- and off-site educational activities, supporting schools, and enhancing environmental awareness and safety among staff and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Experience developing and evaluating education programs for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to design curriculum materials for multiple grade levels.
  • Experience coordinating training events, materials, and logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, evaluate and present education programs on and off site.
  • Design curriculum materials and logistics for visits, pre-visit prep, and follow-up activities.
  • Evaluate materials for appropriateness and effectiveness and ensure unit representation at educational activities.
  • Purchase and maintain equipment for environmental education programs.
  • Assist schools in developing their education programs and support student studies.
  • Prepare and present training to enhance environmental awareness and staff safety.
  • Prepare publications and literature related to educational activities to align with unit policy.
