Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Data Management Discipline Leader to guide and scale defensible environmental data programs across ESG programs. You will shape data governance, oversee EQuIS platforms, and drive QA/QC workflows for complex environmental projects.

You will partner with analytics, GIS, and digital teams to deliver dashboard-ready data and insights, while mentoring staff and building a robust talent bench for future project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; travel may be required.
• Demonstrated experience with EQuIS or comparable environmental data management platforms, including database setup, EDD management, data loading, reporting, QA/QC, and/or validation workflows.
• Strong understanding of environmental project delivery, including field sampling, analytical laboratory coordination, SAP/QAPP requirements, EDD specifications, data quality objectives, data validation, regulatory reporting, and technical deliverables.
• Experience developing data management workflows, SOPs, templates, guidance documents, training materials, or governance frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Provide national leadership for environmental data management across ESG programs, including strategy, standards, workflows, training, and technical support.
• Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, SOPs, templates, checklists, and guidance documents for environmental data management.
• Lead the use of EQuIS platforms for data management, including database strategy, consolidation, data loading, and validation workflows.
• Lead defensible data validation and QA/QC workflows across federal, state, industrial, PFAS programs.
• Support project startup with data management requirements integrated into scopes, budgets, schedules, SAPs, QAPPs, and reporting workflows.
• Coordinate with analytics, GIS, and digital teams to connect validated data to dashboards and Power BI tools.
• Advance electronic field data collection tools and automated workflows; coordinate with GIS for tools like Survey123, Esri Field Maps, and SharePoint forms.
• Develop training pathways and mentor staff in environmental data management disciplines.
• Support proposals, client discussions, and marketing materials highlighting data management capabilities.

Education

Bachelor's degree

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Data Management, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline

Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline

12+ years of relevant experience in environmental data management, environmental consulting, laboratory data workflows, data validation, database management, or environmental project delivery
