Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks an Environmental Coordinator to coordinate environmental compliance programs within the T&D regions, ensuring adherence to laws, company policies, and safety standards.

You will train staff, develop materials, assist during spills, perform site inspections, and respond to public inquiries, with 20–40% travel and a sedentary to light-duty workload. A Bachelor's in physical sciences and 2+ years' experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in the physical sciences (biology, chemistry, geology, physical science, etc.).
  • Minimum of 2 years of environmental experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain environmental activities in the T&D regions to ensure legal and policy compliance.
  • Provide input to Environmental Services on policy development and procedures.
  • Deliver training on environmental program requirements and develop training materials.
  • Assist during oil/chemical spills: notify agencies, arrange contractor support, direct cleanup, and report back to regulators.
  • Conduct environmental reviews of disposal contractors and facilities; assist lead auditors.
  • Promote safe work practices and protect employees and the public.
