Caterpillar in East Peoria, IL is seeking an Environmental Senior Specialist to lead compliance, risk management, and sustainability initiatives across the East Peoria facilities. You will partner with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to drive performance while ensuring regulatory adherence.

You will develop and maintain environmental programs, train staff, monitor metrics, and provide regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of environmental compliance programs, including air, waste, water, and regulatory reporting.
• Experience conducting environmental audits, inspections, and regulatory assessments.
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and drive environmental improvements.
• EPA SPCC experience and working knowledge of EMS and sustainability best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance efforts by interpreting regulations, conducting audits, inspections, and ensuring adherence to EPA, IEPA, OSHA, and Caterpillar standards.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate environmental risks by investigating concerns, implementing corrective actions, and reviewing new products, equipment, and processes.
• Develop and maintain environmental programs, procedures, and management systems that support operational excellence and long-term sustainability goals.
• Partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams to drive environmental performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor environmental metrics and prepare regulatory reports while developing training and awareness programs for employees and stakeholders.
• Champion a culture of sustainability and environmental stewardship across the facility through proactive problem-solving and process improvement.
