Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, IL, is seeking an Environmental Senior Specialist to lead regulatory compliance and sustainability initiatives across our manufacturing facilities.

You will interpret environmental regulations, conduct audits, and partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership to drive performance and continuous improvement. This onsite role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of environmental experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental compliance programs including air, waste, water, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Experience conducting environmental audits, inspections, and regulatory assessments.
  • EPA SPCC experience and knowledge of environmental management systems and sustainability best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental compliance efforts by interpreting regulations, conducting audits, inspections, and ensuring adherence to EPA, IEPA, OSHA, and Caterpillar standards.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate environmental risks; investigate concerns, implement corrective actions, and review new products, equipment, and processes.
  • Develop and maintain environmental programs, procedures, and management systems that support operational excellence and sustainability goals.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams to drive environmental performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor environmental metrics and prepare regulatory reports while developing training and awareness programs for employees and stakeholders.
  • Champion a culture of sustainability and environmental stewardship across the facility.
