Job summary

Montgomery County Government’s Department of Environmental Protection seeks an Environmental Compliance Supervisor to lead a team of health specialists and code enforcement officers in enforcing air, water, noise, and other environmental codes across the county.

The role focuses on managing case intake, coordinating with DPS, DOT, DGS, OEMHS, and others, and ensuring legally defensible enforcement while maintaining high customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in environmental health investigatory/enforcement work after registration as Environmental Health Specialist (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of Montgomery County Code environmental compliance requirements across multiple areas.
• Experience managing environmental compliance operations and coordinating with multiple agencies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Environmental Compliance Section and supervise a team of Environmental Health Specialists and Code Enforcement Officers.
• Manage case intake, routing, and legally defensible resolution of complaints.
• Coordinate environmental compliance activities with multiple county departments and external agencies.
