Job summary

Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an Environmental Compliance Supervisor (Grade N26) to lead a field staff across air, water, noise, and waste enforcement. You will drive investigations, coordinate with multiple agencies, and manage case databases to ensure lawful, defensible outcomes.

The role requires 5 years in environmental health enforcement, a Bachelor's degree, and Maryland registration. Occasional field visits and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Five years of environmental health investigatory/enforcement work with relevant registration.
• Experience leading a multi-disciplinary environmental compliance team.
• Knowledge of Montgomery County environmental code and enforcement policies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee intake, routing, and legally defensible resolution of complaints.
• Supervise staff with coaching, performance management, and workload review.
• Coordinate with DPS, DOT, DGS, OEMHS, and other agencies on compliance activities.
• Serve as liaison to County Attorney on enforcement matters and orders.
• Support stormwater compliance and MS4 permit reporting responsibilities.
• Issue waivers, licenses, and approvals for noise and quarry activities.
• Maintain Environmental Case Management database and related systems.
• Respond to Maryland Public Information Act requests.
• Manage field operations equipment and training.
