Job summary

Montgomery County Government seeks an Environmental Compliance Supervisor to lead a team enforcing environmental laws across air, water, noise, and waste sectors. You’ll oversee daily operations and coordinate with county and state agencies to ensure high standards of public health and environmental protection.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing case workflows, responding to information requests, and supporting stormwater duties.

Qualifications

• Experience managing environmental compliance operations at state/local level across multiple code areas.
• Experience conducting complex environmental field investigations and applying laws.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance in Montgomery County Code.
• Knowledge of legal processes and enforcement policies.
• Skill in case management, databases, and service-request workflows.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Environmental Compliance Section.
• Supervise Environmental Health Specialists and Code Enforcement Officers.
• Coordinate with DPS, DOT, DGS and other agencies.
• Liaise with County Attorney on enforcement matters and orders.
• Support stormwater obligations and MS4 permit reporting.
• Issue waivers, licenses, and approvals.
• Maintain Environmental Case Management database and related processes.
• Respond to Maryland Public Information Act requests.
• Manage equipment, training, and field resources.
