Job summary

Crystal Clean LLC is seeking an Associate Environmental Scientist to support waste-approval and facility-compliance activities, reviewing waste streams, interpreting regulations, and maintaining approval data. This role covers hazardous waste, used oil, and state rules, with travel to other locations.

You will develop procedures, apply permit conditions, work with internal stakeholders, and track performance metrics to improve compliance and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.
• Experience with waste-stream approvals for treatment, storage, and disposal facilities.
• Knowledge of DOT and RCRA regulations related to solid waste, hazardous waste, and used oil.
• Experience reviewing permit conditions and applying them to waste-approval procedures.
• Experience creating Waste Approvals procedures and policies.
• Experience adapting to procedure and policy changes.
• Experience working in a dynamic environment.
• Experience with time management, prioritizing, organizing, and meeting deadlines.
• Experience communicating in writing and verbally with stakeholders.
• Experience learning and applying new processes.
• Experience representing an organization professionally to employees, external contacts, and the public.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel functions and lookup tools.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve waste streams and perform related data entry for a facility.
• Develop and maintain Waste Approvals policies and procedures.
• Interpret RCRA, DOT, hazardous-waste, used oil, and state regulations.
• Explain regulatory requirements to generators, sales representatives, and Waste Approvals staff.
• Review and interpret permit conditions and apply them to waste-approval procedures.
• Identify and address potential compliance issues with waste streams and permits.
• Provide Waste Approvals input to EHS managers developing policies and programs.
• Communicate with internal and external customers on regulatory issues.
• Identify, track, and report waste-approval metrics and set goals to improve performance.
• Coordinate with facilities to streamline outbound approvals and shipments.
• Perform administrative duties related to Waste Approvals activities.
• Represent the Company professionally to employees, external contacts, and the public.
• Travel is required to other Company locations or vendors.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
