Job summary

CK Associates' Baton Rouge team is seeking an Environmental Waste Specialist to support solid and hazardous waste management, compliance, and remediation projects. This role blends field and office work, offering opportunities to collaborate with engineers and senior scientists, and to build expertise across regulatory programs.

The successful candidate will contribute to industrial, commercial, and governmental client projects while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–7 years of experience in environmental compliance, waste management, or remediation.
• Experience with solid and hazardous waste management, permitting, reporting, or compliance activities.
• Working knowledge of environmental regulations including RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, and state rules.
• Ability to interpret regulations and apply them to real-world compliance.
• Strong technical writing, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% and to obtain a TWIC card.
• Valid driver''s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist with solid and hazardous waste permitting, reporting, and compliance activities.
• Conduct facility inspections and compliance assessments.
• Prepare or support the preparation of waste management plans, closure plans, and regulatory reports.
• Develop waste facility closure and post-closure cost estimates.
• Assist with tank compliance activities and certifications.
• Perform tank and containment volume calculations.
• Collect, organize, and evaluate environmental data.
• Prepare figures, maps, data tables, and trend analyses for technical reports.
• Support risk assessment, site investigation, and remediation projects as needed.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies; and
• Travel to project sites and CK offices as needed.
