Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an Environmental Protection Compliance Specialist to bolster regulatory oversight and protect public health and natural resources.

You will coordinate enforcement actions related to storage tank regulations, review data, prepare notices and orders, and engage with staff, partners, and the public to advance compliance and strong environmental standards.

Qualifications

• One year of professional experience as a Sanitarian, Air Quality Specialist, Solid Waste Specialist, or Water Quality Specialist.
• Equivalent combination of experience and/or training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Enforcement Coordination: Assist with strategies, corrective actions, and follow-up on storage tank compliance cases
• Document Preparation: Draft notices, orders, agreements, and other enforcement materials
• Compliance Meetings: Meet with storage tank owners and responsible parties to review violations and cleanup activities
• Data Management: Enter and review system data to ensure accuracy and meet quality standards
• Case Review: Evaluate inspection findings, recommend enforcement actions, and support field personnel
• Public Communication: Provide information on regulations and program requirements during meetings and outreach
