Job summary

The University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa, TX invites applications for an Environmental Compliance Specialist II to administer and coordinate environmental compliance programs in support of safe and compliant campus operations.

Reporting to the Director of Environmental Health & Safety, the role supervises waste, permits, inventories, training, and regulatory records while providing technical guidance and program improvements.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and college coursework.
• Three years of direct, position-related experience.
• Ability to qualify and pass the university’s driving program.

Responsibilities

• Administer environmental compliance programs, schedules, inspections, training, reporting and corrective actions under the Director.
• Review requirements and recommend procedures, controls and program improvements; elevate policy decisions to the Director.
• Coordinate campus waste activities, labeling, storage, manifests, vendor services and training.
• Coordinate permit activities, inspections, records, testing, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate chemical inventories, Safety Data Sheets, Hazard Communication and FIFRA compliance.
• Monitor Clean Air Act, emissions, asbestos, lead, mold and indoor environmental-quality requirements; coordinate evaluations and remediation.
• Conduct advanced inspections, prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Respond to spills and environmental emergencies; coordinate notifications and recovery.
• Investigate incidents, identify factors, prepare corrective-action documentation and track closure.
• Develop and deliver environmental training; provide technical guidance to campus units.
• Maintain permits, plans, inventories, inspection and training records; regulatory calendars.
• Coordinate with UT System offices, regulators, consultants and vendors; reserve final positions for Director.
• Monitor regulatory changes and update procedures and records.
